When I was 20 years old, I lived in Paris for a year. In my determination to become fluent in French, I completely stopped speaking English. During the several months when I was between languages, when words didn't flow, I painted into my silence. I began to explore non verbal communication and realms beyond language. Painting became an exhilarating tool to explore my unknown.
In my current paintings, I am sensing into energy fields, such as at the pyramids I recently visited in Egypt. Using acrylics and mixed media, I meld onto paper or canvas surfaces intensely saturated and highly textured color to create a sense of presence through an energetic transmission.
